Gooday,

When I read the first paragraph of The Divide, not knowing that it was being ghost-written, it seemed off. I noticed it wasn't your writing style. I ignored it and carried on despite the story not grabbing me, maybe you writing style had changed...? I then noticed inconsistencies : Diana who was always accepting of Outsiders was now aversed to them; Deb and Suzan who had previously shied away from Faye were back with her the day after John Black was gone which seemed weird and right then I had decided I didn't like the book, not like the others. Then I was on google looking for answers to the questions the book had piqued and I found out that you hadn't written it and that made lots of sense.

TBC...

Yes, I also love LJ's work, and was puzzled when The Secret Circle book 2 / The Divide, seemed so flat and failed to capture my imagination as the first had. When I noticed the ghostwriter's name displayed in such a way that it was deceiving who had written the book, I understood why I was so bored with it. The writing is poor. Very disappointing. I bet LJ was heartbroken to let her story go, if she had no control due to the publisher.

Continuation...

And now I realise this has no point besides telling you that I support you and cannot continue reading The Divde, not only because of support but also because it didn't grip me as the others immediatly did.

Julian.

PS: I've started reading the Dark Visions Trilogy and love it!

I absolutely ADORE your version of the secret circle. I've read both books a thousand times and was highly disappointed to discover you had given the rights away to Aubrey clark.. don't get me wrong, i'm sure she's a great author but I am a big fan of your work having read a majority of your books and I am highly disappointed you let someone else continue you your work.. I'm sure you had good reason and it was needed but what made you do it? I wanted more from you.. I cant bring myself to read Aubrey's work as she's not you and it feels as though I am betraying you the original author.. however, that said, I still support you more than ever and will continue to read your work. :-)

Miss Smith did not LET someone else write either TVD or TSC. BOTH of the series were TAKEN from her due to Harper/Alloy owning both of those series. Your disappointment should not fall on Miss Smith, but on the publishing company and their powers that be that took her beloved pieces of work away from her.

I never said my disappointment fell on her, nor did I know that at the time of writing this.
I read somewhere that she GAVE the rights away, only finding out after that this was not true by a comment futher up.
I fully disagree with what they did and as I have said, shall continue to support her.
Your Reply comes off as rather rude, you could of simply explained instead of making yourself sound that way.

It didn't sound that way to me, it's just this has been explained many times on this site and is a sensitive subject. I'm sure it wasn't meant to sound rude, as Michelle wouldn't want it to. It's great to see that you still support LJ and that you got your information from an incorrect source and now you know the truth :)

I've also picked up that there's a difference in writing style when I completed the TVD and started with the Night World & Secret Circle, but because LJ Smith has captivated me with her previous work I will continue supporting her no matter what. SHE is my true inspiration. I will however continue reading the material I have as the stories I believe is definitely inspired by her other books. Miss Smith, I hope that you will continue writing and I will always keep an eye out for anything from you. Your fan. Aaleah

The quality of writing in Secret Circle The Divide is dramatically different than book 1 written by LJ Smith. I am disappointed. I love LJ's writing. It is captivating. Aubrey Clark's version of the characters falls flat for me. Sorry to say.

Now that LJ is releasing fanfics of how she wanted The Vampire Diaries series to continue on, I’m just hoping that there’ll be a chance for The Secret Circle to continue as fanfics also. I can dream at least!

I think the books written by L.J. Smith were great. I love learning about witchcraft, I know many of you thing the Divide, Hunt, & Temptation where wastes and badly written by Clark but I liked learning about Cassie's ancestors it was cool & I love fictional history.

In the last 3 books; the Divide, Hunt, & temptation; Cassie seems like she should have the silver cord with Nick instead of Adam. The information I learning on the ancestors is really cool and interesting. I also learned that some of the other language spells in these 3 books are latin or greek words.

Even though The Divide wasn't written by L.J Smith, I still loved it, even The Hunt and The Temptation. Basically the things I didn't like about the books were the people who died. Suzan was my 2nd favorite character. And why kill great-aunt Constance? Also the ancestors weren't demons. Demons are things that have never walked the earth before. And what up with the whole Justinian the first thing?
Honestly, I loved the books, but all of that ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^ confuses me.

The only problems I have with the new ones are that there are inconsistencies with the story's timeline. Such as the appearance of cell phones! If the parents all died in 1976 and Diana and fay had just turned 17 it was at the very LEAST 1993... and the cell phone that wasn't the size of a brick didn't even come on the market until 1995 and even then they weren't affordable enough for all those 12 kids to have one... I just feel like those kind of things take me out of the story because I can no longer feel myself in the same timeline as the first three.

I honestly hadn't known that L.J. Smith didn't write The Divide but I kind of knew sth was off. The first three books are beyond amazing..they left me speechless. I hadn't enjoyed a series so much..in years. Everything about the books, the charachters, the storyline, the approach to magic, the love story..everythi ng was perfect. It was exactly what I wanted someone who writes fantasy novels to publish for me to read. The novels are right up my street and that's why I am so very sad right now that our dear Lisa isn't the author of the rest of the series I don't think I will want to read someone else's work.
I hope dear Lisa that one day you will want to and be able to publish your Secret Circle books.
If you should ever come across this comment you should know that I think and many many others would agree that you are a master of your craft and there are very few writers of fantasy work that posess such talent of storytelling!
